ULI Houston Development of Distinction Award-winning Lake Plaza in Hermann Park will be the location for this fun and educational Young Leaders event. Join us at the new Kinder Station to hear about the $50 million transformation of one of Houston's most beautiful and beloved places, and enjoy networking plus food and beverages from Little Big's.
Jay Baker, FAIA, has played an integral role in the evolution of the park for the past 18 years. Fellow Hermann Park Conservancy Executive Committee Member Marley Lott, Sr. Counsel with Baker Botts, will join Jay to share their experience using Design as a Catalyst for Change. We will learn how design made the difference in capturing added value and winning public support for their vision. Today, the area welcomes six million visitors a year, and continues to grow more beautiful, accessible and environmentally sustainable. And in a time when it takes even more inventiveness to generate the lion's share of funding through private sources, we will find out why a national panel of ULI judges commended the Hermann Park Conservancy for its ingenious combination of private philanthropy, limited public support and thriving retail operations to keep its ambitious renovation program on track.
