Distressed real estate is certainly a buzz word seen commonly in headlines today, and the issues that plague the industry will persist for some time. While circumstances of how properties become distressed are more widely known, it is just as relevant for real estate professionals to understand the process of dealing with properties that have found themselves in distress.
Please join ULI Young Leaders as we explore the topic of distressed real estate workouts from two different market perspectives. Steve Hanover, the Managing Director of Special Servicing for The Situs Companies, will discuss special servicing and his experiences from over 22 years working with restructurings, bankruptcies, and foreclosures. Conversely, for a perspective of the topic from the commercial banking side, we will also hear from Tim Waikem, a Senior Vice President for JPMorgan Chase Bank, who will share his experiences in distressed real estate workouts from 20 years of experience he has managing strategic real estate relationships within the firm.
Come prepared with questions as Mr. Hanover and Mr. Waikem help shed light on the distressed real estate resolution process and the important lessons we can learn from the current market turmoil. The event will be co-hosted with the Rice Real Estate Club at room 115 in McNair Hall on the Rice campus.
