Event Overview:
Please join us as Ken Hughes, President of Hughes Development LP in Dallas, shares best practices and lessons learned in the realm of mixed-use, transit-oriented development and in public/private partnerships, based upon his experience in developing the award-winning Mockingbird Station in Dallas.
Generally regarded as one of the most visionary, transit-oriented, mixed-use developments in the United States, Mockingbird Station in Dallas is a redevelopment of a 1926 telephone manufacturing facility located adjacent to the Katy Railroad. In 1999, Hughes Development converted the old facilities into specialty retail and added 211 loft units above. An adjacent office building was acquired and incorporated into the master plan via extensive upgrades and additions. A new building was developed to house restaurants, an art-house movie theater, and grant access to the light-rail served DART Mockingbird Station terminal.
