Event
Overview:
It has been a mere 10 months since our first
ULI District Council event in San Antonio, and
in that time membership has already grown to
181 people, with 3 successful Luncheons and
4 Young Leaders Events having taken place. These
accomplishments put us well on our way to achieving
our eventual goal of having 300 private and
public sector leaders as active ULI members
in San Antonio and South Texas- members who
carry out the ULI mission of providing leadership
in the responsible use of land, and in creating
and sustaining thriving communities worldwide.
Please join us for a ULI members-only cocktail
reception on Thursday, November 29th, in the
Pool House Grill Room of the San Antonio Country
Club, where we will have an opportunity to celebrate
our growth, meet and connect with fellow members,
and view a video presentation from Mr. Gerald
Hines’ recent talk to ULI members at the Rice/ULI
Houston Real Estate Trends Conference.
It is not too much to say that Gerald Hines
embodies the mission of the Urban Land Institute,
as his projects demonstrate that great design
and a commitment to creating better urban environments
enhance, rather than detract from, profitability.
His recent talk features his thoughts on a host
of issues, including but not limited to: green-building,
mixed-use development, quality of life, international
development, the current state of the real estate
profession and the capital markets, and his
advice to the next generation of real estate
professionals. Please join us for this unique
event, and encourage others to become ULI members
so that they, too, can attend.
If you are not yet a ULI Member, but would
like to attend, please click
here to join, and then register for the
event.

About
ULI and ULI District Councils:
ULI-
the Urban Land Institute, is the preeminent, multidisciplinary
real estate forum, facilitating the open exchange
of ideas, information, and experience among local,
national, and international industry leaders and policy
makers dedicated to creating better places. ULI’s
mission is to provide leadership in the responsible
use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving
communities worldwide. ULI is composed of over 36,000
members worldwide, representing every segment of the
real estate development community, including property
owners, investors, advisers, developers, architects,
lawyers, lenders, planners, regulators, contractors,
engineers, university professors, librarians, and
students.
At
the local level, ULI and its members accomplish its
mission through District Councils, where local members
convene at educational programs and other events to
share best practices and learn from each other. In
Texas alone, District Councils currently thrive in
Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Austin. Although there
was at one time a District Council in San Antonio,
and although there are still many ULI members in the
San Antonio region, there has not been a District
Council serving them for quite some time. This lack
of a District Council deprives ULI members in the
San Antonio region of one of the most important benefits
of membership in the organization.
At the request of several San Antonio members of the
Urban Land Institute, the ULI national office has
asked the ULI Houston District Council to assist with
forming a District Council for the San Antonio region.
To reach out to the next generation of industry leaders,
ULI created a special membership category known as
“Young Leaders” for those under 35 years
old, substantially reducing membership dues and meeting
registration fees. Young Leaders events are both social
and educational: they typically begin with a networking
and happy hour, but also feature presentations from
high-level speakers, who provide an inside look at
an exciting new project that is generating buzz. Please
join us for this event, and learn how you can become
more involved in ULI.

at 713-349-8821.
