Banish the post-holiday blahs at a networking happy hour for ULI Houston real estate leaders, and learn about the latest developments in Neartown.
At the heart of the Montrose scene is the crossroads of two major thoroughfares, Westheimer running from Midtown to the east to Upper Kirby District to the west, and Montrose stretching from Allen Parkway on Buffalo Bayou to the fountain at Hermann Park on the south. Literally and figuratively at a critical crossroads, this evolving area is attracting renewed interest and new investment. A ULI Advisory Panel in April 2009, commissioned by Blueprint Houston and the Neartown Association, was asked for independent, expert guidance on integrating private development, public amenities, and the artistic culture of Montrose. Key questions: "What will it take to make it happen? Who will take the lead to make the plan a reality?" Also named "One of America's Great Places" by the American Planning Association that year, Montrose was recognized as "Eclectic and urbane… a fusion of architectural styles, land uses, and people."
