News & Events Thursday, April 2 ULI Breakfast The Dollars and Sense of Sustainability: Jeri Ballard, Shell and Kenneth Hubbard, Hines
Last year, GREEN became the biggest buzzword in the industry as developers pledged to protect the environment for future generations. The new reality is focused on economic survival. Can developers still afford to make sustainability a high priority? Can they afford not to? What real benefits beyond good PR does green development deliver? And where does sustainability fit in, when positive cash flow and reduced energy, material and operating costs can make or break a project now? This breakfast will feature Jeri Ballard, regional manager of the Americas for Shell Real Estate, and Kenneth Hubbard, who has served as executive vice president and CEO of the East Region for Hines, and also is a ULI Trustee and Co-Chair of the ULI Climate, Land Use and Energy Committee. They will discuss how smart, sustainable investments are helping companies eliminate waste and create added value, even with an economy in "hunker down mode."
